Come with us back to 1889 when Oklahoma really got started, as the Flying W Ranch will allow 300 people to recreate this famous run for land.

Thousands of people entered the original race to claim 160 acres for their homestead, and the lucky 300 "homesteaders" will re-create this great race, running for prizes. All homesteaders must wear clothing of the period, and provide their own horse, wagon, or run on foot, just as it was done in 1889. (See the column at the right to obtain an application to enter.)

The 10th Calvary will be on hand in period dress to begin the Land Run at 12 noon, Saturday, May 12. In addition to this exciting race, visitors will be allowed to tour this authentic Frontier Town featured on the CMT Network, "Cowboy U Oklahoma."

Visit our Extensive Museums of Frontier and Indian Artifacts, see the Largest Buffalo Kill Site in the southern plains.

Archeologists will be on hand to explain the dig site, how it originated, and how they are carefully revealing it's ancient secrets.

See live buffalo, longhorn cattle, horse, petting animals, bull whip shows, gun spinners, Wild West Shows, Bull Riding, Mutton Bustin', and much more.

The Chuck Wagon Cooks will be providing a mouth-watering selection of country style foods for your enjoyment while you stroll among vendors of all types with Oklahoma, frontier, and western memorabilia.

Don't miss this exciting weekend of history in the re-making! This weekend will make history, and create memories your family will never forget!
